HOW TO MAKE SELF ASSESSMENT TAX PAYMENT TO HMRC?
METHOD 1 - ONLINE TRANSFER / TELEPHONE BANKING/BACS
Making payment through online banking: Please use the below bank details and transfer funds according to details below.

You’ll need to use your 11-character payment reference when you pay. This is your 10-digit Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) followed by the letter ‘K’.
Note: Your bill will tell you which account to pay in to. If you don't have a bill, or you're not sure, use HMRC Cumbernauld.
METHOD 2 - CHEQUE PAYMENT
How to make payment by cheque through the post
Cheque payable to: 'HM REVENUE & CUSTOMS ONLY' followed by your 10-character Unique Taxpayer reference number (as confirmed by Tax Team) and send your cheque to:
HMRC, Direct, BX5 5BD.
Method 3 – Payment via debit or corporate credit card
Use your 10 digit UTR (Unique Taxpayer Reference) provided in your paying-in slip or you can find it on HMRC online account.
Put the amount that has to be paid and select continue
Note –Only corporate credit cards or debit cards can be used, personal credit cards cannot be used. There is also a fee involved if you use corporate credit card which is non refundable.
Method 4 –Paying at your bank or building society
There are two options of paying – either through cash or through cheque. However, for that there are two conditions that needs to be fulfilled –
- HMRC sends you paper statements.
- Having the paying-in slip as sent by HMRC
Make the cheque payable to ‘HM Revenue & Customs Only’ followed by your reference number which is a combination of UTR followed by the letter K
